TRI to Discontinue Veteran TR518 Series MDA Systems—New TR518 SII to Continue Legacy

[September 14, 2012—Taipei, Taiwan] To keep pace with advances in electrical test solutions within the SMT industry and offer the latest and most relevant test solutions, Test Research, Inc. announced a plan to discontinue the company’s TR518FE, TR518FR and TR518FV Manufacturing Defects Analyzer (MDA) systems on December 31, 2012. First conceived in 1989 and commercialized in 1991, the TR518 Series has built up the largest MDA installed base in the world while also serving as a catalyst for TRI’s dynamic progression into other areas of PBCA test and inspection.

Continuing the legacy of the TR518 Series, the TR518 SII offers the same legendary quality of the workhorse TR518 product family. Additionally, the TR518 SII provides a more powerful test platform with the flexibility to develop a wider range of test solutions alongside upgraded OS compatibility and a convenient USB interface. While production of the TR518FE, TR518FR and TR518FV will be discontinued on December 31, 2012, product support and service will continue to be offered by TRI for additional 3 years.
