Test Research Inc. to Display Total Test Solutions for SMT Manufacturing at APEX 2010
SPI, AXI, AOI, and In-Circuit Test Systems Will All Be Shown

Taipei, Taiwan (March 22, 2010) – Test Research Inc. (TRI, TAIEX 3030) announced today that it would display its end-to-end test solutions for SMT manufacturing at IPC APEX 2010, to be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada from April 6-8. Test systems for each phase of the manufacturing process from Solder Paste Inspection (SPI), to Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), Automated X-ray Inspection (AXI) and In-Circuit Testing (ICT) will all be shown at TRI's booth #1425

The new TR7007 is the industry's fastest solder paste inspection (SPI) system. It is a 64-bit, 3D SPI system for mid- to high-volume manufacturing. The TR7007's inspection speed is a blazing 171cm2/sec at 14 micrometers resolution and 87cm2/sec at 10 micrometers. In addition, the TR7007 implements a new "fringe pattern" technology and a dual lighting system that eliminates shadows and provides the best possible defect detection. The TR7007 also uses a linear motor for smoother, more accurate imaging.

TRI's AXI test system for PCBAs is the TR7600. The TR7600 provides in-line inspection for high-density components such as Flip Chips and BGAs, and micro-components down to 0201 and 01005. The system uses X-ray penetration to capture images using nine CCDs at different angles. Software developed in-house by TRI analyzes the slice images and calculates the different slice heights to inspect for PCB defects.

AOI will also be featured at TRI's booth, with the TR7550, an in-line system that uses a linear motor for the most precise imaging. It combines a top-view digital 3CCD full-color camera plus 4 angle cameras to provide the most complete AOI coverage in its class.

"We are the only company that offers test systems for every step of the SMT process," said Jim Lin, TRI Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. "Manufacturers are encouraged to come to us to discuss all their testing requirements. We are proud to be the only one stop source for test solutions."

TRI will also be showing its board testers. The TR5001 and TR8100LV are the latest models in TRI's complete ICT product line, with well over 1,000 systems deployed worldwide. The TR8100LV is TRI's full-featured model for large, complex PCBAs. The TR5001 is a cost effective MDA with a variety of upgrade options for on-board programming and boundary-scan. In addition, TRI will also be showing two patented board-test technologies. ToggleScan is an enhancement to IEEE 1149 Boundary-Scan, and VregTest introduces a new no-access test method for crowded motherboards.
