Test Research Inc. Celebrates 20 Years with Full Product Line at APEX 2009
AOI, AXI, SPI and In-Circuit Test Systems Will All Be Shown

Taipei, Taiwan (March 6, 2009) – Test Research Inc. (TRI, TAIEX 3030) announced today that it would display a full range of test solutions at IPC APEX 2009, to be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada from March 31 through April 2. Test systems for each phase of the manufacturing process from Solder Paste Inspection (SPI), to Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), Automated X-ray Inspection (AXI) and through In-Circuit Testing (ICT) will all be shown at TRI’s booth #1629.

TRI’s TR5001 and TR8100LV are the latest models in TRI’s industry-leading ICT product line, with well over 1,000 systems deployed worldwide. The TR8100LV is TRI’s full-featured model for large, complex PCBAs. The TR5001 is a cost effective MDA with a variety of upgrade options for on-board programming and boundary-scan. In addition, TRI will also be showing two patented board-test technologies. ToggleScan™ is an enhancement to the IEEE 1149 Boundary-Scan, and Vreg™ introduces a new no-access test method for crowded motherboards..

Also featured at TRI’s booth will be two AOI systems, TR7550 and TR7500DT. The TR7550 is an in-line system that uses a linear motor for more accurate imaging. It combines a top-view digital 3CCD full-color camera plus 4 angle cameras to provide the most complete AOI coverage in its class. The TR7500DT is a compact, high-speed desktop system for offline problem detection and analysis.

The TR7600 is TRI’s entry into the AXI arena of test systems for PCBAs. The TR7600 provides in-line inspection for high-density components such as Flip Chips and BGAs, and micro-components down to 0201 and 01005. The system uses X-ray penetration to capture images using nine CCDs at different angles. Software developed in-house by TRI analyzes the slice images and calculates the different slice heights to inspect for PCB defects.

“TRI was founded in April 1989 and we welcome the chance to celebrate our 20th anniversary at APEX 2009,” said Jim Lin, Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. “We want to let the American market know that our steady growth through the years will continue with full commitment to all our product lines.”

Rounding out TRI’s “one-stop solution” approach to PCBA test products is the TR7066 3D Solder Paste Inspection System. It features ultra-high-speed inspection of 76cm2/sec at 20-micron resolution, also using a linear motor.
